Bell OH-58 Kiowa Helicopter

The Bell OH-58 Kiowa is a family of single-engine, single-rotor, military helicopters used for observation, utility, and direct fire support. Bell Helicopter manufactured the OH-58 for the United States Army based on its Model 206A JetRanger helicopter. The OH-58 has been in continuous use by the U.S. Army since 1969.

The Bell Ah-1S Cobra was used primarily for close air support of ground troops and also as an attack helicopter against armored formations. Highly maneuverable, heavily armed, the Cobra was well designed for its mission.

This helicopter (63-3794) was flown in Vietnam by Warrant Officer Robert Mason, (author of “Chickenhawk”), and has been restored bearing the markings of the helicopter at that time. This helicopter was used in the movie "We were Soldiers" and flew in the actual battle depicted.

The H-13 was the Army's version of the highly successful Model 47 light utility helicopter. It was used for a multitude of missions during its years of service, but it's best-known mission was the swift evacuation of casualties from the battlefield during the Korean War.
